Speaking & Workshops

Coming Home Through Shame, Belonging, and Collective Healing

I offer talks, keynotes, and experiential workshops that invite people into deeper relationship with themselves, one another, and the more-than-human world.

At the heart of my speaking is a simple invitation:
What does it mean to come home—and what gets in our way?

My speaking weaves together storytelling, embodied reflection, relational inquiry, and experiential practice.

Rather than focusing only on information, I create spaces where people can feel, sense, and explore the deeper patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves, each other, and the world we are part of.

My work is grounded in the understanding that healing is not only personal—it is relational, collective, and ecological.

I speak and teach on topics including:

  • Where Shame and Blame End, Liberation Begins: The Path To Collective Healing

  • Healing and Transforming Imposter Syndrome at its Roots

  • Loneliness, isolation, and the longing for connection

  • From Separation to Belonging: Healing the Roots of Loneliness & Oppression

  • Courageous Facilitation - Embodied anti-oppressive Group Facilitation

  • Empowering, Anti-Oppressive Practice With Youth: Effectively Supporting Our Young People

  • Coming home to our bodies

  • Healing the Mother Wound: Reclaiming Our Mothers, Reclaiming Ourselves

  • Healing with Our More-than-Human Natural World

Across all of my work, I explore what it means to come home: to our hearts,
to our bodies
, to our intuition
, to one another
 and to our more-than-human world.

Coming home is not a destination.
It is a practice of re-integration—of remembering what has been exiled, forgotten, or left behind in the process of surviving and adapting.

A central focus of my work is understanding and transforming shame—not only as an individual experience, but as a relational and collective force that shapes disconnection, self-abandonment, and systems of oppression. When met with awareness and compassion, shame can become a threshold: not something to bypass, but something that can open the way back into connection, dignity, and belonging.

My talks and workshops are experiential and interactive.

Participants often describe them as:

  • deeply engaging and embodied

  • emotionally resonant and accessible

  • reflective and practical

  • connective and relational

  • opening new ways of seeing themselves and others

My work integrates:
Internal Family Systems (IFS), Hakomi, somatic and experiential practices, anti-oppressive frameworks, and nature-based wisdom. These approaches support people in developing greater awareness, compassion, and capacity for presence—with themselves, with others, and within systems of relationship.

I offer:

  • Keynotes & public talks

  • Experiential workshops

  • Professional trainings & continuing education (CEs)

  • Organizational and group facilitation

For over 30 years, I have worked with individuals, practitioners, organizations, and communities across a wide range of identities, ages, and life experiences.

If your community is exploring questions of belonging, shame, healing, or relational transformation, I would be honored to be part of that conversation.

“Shira offered a non-judgmental space where I could be honest about the challenges I was facing in the work. She helped me identify my growing edges and supported me in my professional growth.”

“Shira has a rare ability to listen deeply, invite meaningful story and hold perspective. She brings insight, an open heart, reverence, humor and can connect with a diverse range of people.”

“What I found to be most helpful is Shira’s use of questioning and her own observations, which guided me in identifying areas for growth. She helped me notice and change unhelpful patterns of behavior, as well as draw out my strengths.”

The oppression came in by separating people and the change will come by reaching for one another and ourselves. - Dr. Carolyn Finney
